Odie's Fund
Grant Programs
We are currently focused on two main initiatives:

Saving the Lives of Blind Dogs ("Penny's Program")

In memory of Odie's sister Penny who lived a happy life as a blind dog after she lost her eyesight to glaucoma, Odie's Fund is proudly supporting the Rolling Dog Ranch in their efforts to provide a sanctuary for blind and other special needs dogs from across the country. We are also providing selective grants to other organizations which focus on blind dog rescue, such as the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. We regret to note that "Penny's Program" does not accept unsolicited grant requests.

Providing Heartworm Treatment for Dogs in Rural Pounds and Shelters in the Southeast United States

Rescue groups and shelters registered as 501c3 public charities are eligible to receive reimbursement for heartworm treatment for up to two dogs if they provide a post-treatment adoption guarantee for these dogs. Groups located in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas are eligible to apply.

Please send us the following information:

- Name of your organization

- Name, age, and photo of dog who needs/needed HW treatment

- Cost of treatment

- Approximate number of dogs your organization rescues per year as well as the number of dogs your organization places in permanent homes

- Website address for your group

Please note that we cannot provide grants to 501c3 groups that have not yet received their "public charity" designation from the IRS. We also cannot provide grants to independent rescuers.

Please submit grant requests by March 31, 2012. Decisions will be made on a rolling basis until funding is exhausted, so please apply early.

Other areas of interest for us include:

Making the Lives of Shelter Dogs More Comfortable

Working in partnership with the Petfinder Foundation, Odie's Fund provided the funding for the "Every Dog Deserves a Bed" pilot program in which Kuranda beds were distributed to rural shelters. If your shelter participated in this program, funding for additional bed purchases may be available.

Providing Small Emergency Grants to Rural Pounds/Shelters

If your shelter/pound is located in a rural area and it is facing an emergency situation in which lives of dogs are in danger due to lack of food, lack of water, disease, overcrowding, etc., please contact us to find out if we might be able to help. Please note that in order to be eligible for a grant, your shelter/pound must partner with a rescue group registered as a 501c3 public charity which could receive the grant on the shelter's behalf.
